Shannon photoWelcome to this month's Good News!

I will admit it - I'm a sucker for a new year.

Each year, right about this time, I become convinced that big change is on the horizon. I am just sure that anything I didn't like about the outgoing year will be magically swept away the moment the clock strikes 12:01 a.m.

And each year it takes me about three weeks before it sinks in that the new year looks, feels, and acts surprisingly like....the old year.

Hmmmm.  Yup. You guessed it. Right about the time you are receiving this ezine, I am starting to feel the same ol' same ol' in the new year once again.

So this year, I have decided that instead of waiting for the year around me to change, I will be proactive and begin to change my approach to the new year. Forgoing my more traditional 'resolutions', I am adoptiong some new year's 'intentions' instead.

So read on for more about intentions vs. resolutions, as well as extra special good news wishes and inspiration from Andrea, Lynn, and Robin, the unveiling of the new Key to Life and MentorCONNECT websites, my answers to your questions, a special advance giveaway of my new BOOK, Beating Ana, and lots more!

Happy New Year!

Warmly and with HOPE,
                            Shannon

Shannon's Column: New Year's Intentions

Shannon picture I have been pondering the meaning of life lately. More specifically, I have been pontificating to myself at length about the meaning of life before, and after, "Beating Ana". I have always wanted to write and publish a book....I just don't think I ever actually believed that I would do it! Sort of like how I felt all during my recovery process....for full article click HERE

Andrea's Column: "I Wish I Knew What To Say..."
by Andrea Roe

All I want is for my little girl to get better and start living a healthy life filled with happiness and laughter, not tears of sadness. It breaks my heart that she thinks so little of herself.....

Several weeks ago, I met with a woman whose teenage daughter currently battles an eating disorder. I was the first person she had ever met that had recovered from an eating disorder and....for full article click HERE

Lynn's Column: Life in spirit (inspired)
by Lynn Gerhard

Lynn Gerhard & Russ

Step 11 - Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.

OK.  I'm eleven years sober, and even so I hit a rough patch.  Life caved in on me.  I caved in on me, not able to do for myself the things I needed to do.  And then I lost heart and wondered, "What's the use of carrying on?"  It happens...  even when you are living by the principles of recovery and working with others.  Perhaps it especially happens when you have some time in recovery....for full article click HERE

Robin's Column: "Back into the Fire"
by Robin Richardson

Robin Richardson picture
When I was a little girl, I loved horses. I started riding when I was five and must have owned about 20 of those beautiful Breyer plastic horses. They were my "Barbies" and I named them and created imaginary lives and families for each one. When I was nine years old, several girls accidentally started a barn fire in a huge, beautiful barn ....for song lyrics, music clips and full article click HERE

I'm happy with the way I am. I'm not like American film stars. I'm naturally curvy. This is me. Like it or lump it. People think that if a woman isn't rail-thin there must be something wrong with her - it's such nonsense.
