MC Community Forums

Welcome to the MC Community Forums!

For the safety and support of all who participate, we ask you to read through the Forum Rules before beginning to post.

NOTE - all members please read: Please be aware that MentorCONNECT cannot be held responsible or liable for any personal information you may choose to share with another member of MentorCONNECT. The Forums are set up so that no personal information (such as full name, email address, address or phone number) is visible between members who interact solely within the Forums and Forums email system. By participating here, you accept these terms and take full responsibility for the amount of personal information you choose to disclose as a part of your participation in the community.

Unlike the "Pirate Code", these are not "more like guidelines". These are hard and fast rules. So here we go - any questions or concerns, please EMAIL US.

Forum Rules

Welcome to the MC Community Forums & the Monday & Thursday Night Support Groups!

For the safety and support of all who participate, we ask you to read through the Forum Rules before beginning to post or participating in the chat e-support groups.

Unlike the "Pirate Code", these are not "more like guidelines". These are hard and fast rules. So here we go - any questions or concerns, please EMAIL US.

Forum Rules

1. No weight or size references or pro-ED tips/tricks/techniques - EVER.

2. No references to specific foods, trigger foods, or meal plan details - no exceptions.

3. Solutions-oriented, recovery-oriented, first-person sharing only. We are not here to 'fix' each other. Please refrain from offering advice that is unsolicited without asking permission from the other member first.

4. Kindness is KEY. We are all in this together.

5. This is a safe space to share issues that you encounter and problems/concerns you are having. However, as you post, challenge yourself to explore the light behind the darkness rather than focusing solely on the darkness itself. Think 'this too shall pass' and then seek ways to facilitate that as you share and ask for support.

6. Ask for help and support from other community members within the group as often as you need to, being mindful to always ask for the other member’s permission first before you seek their advice. Please be aware that advice you receive may be of variable quality and is NOT a substitution for professional medical care.

7. Please refrain at all times from sharing information that is likely to trigger other members (a good gauge is to ask yourself, ‘Would I be triggered if someone else shared this information with me?’)

8. What goes on in the community stays in the community. Respect the confidentiality of this community and each of its members at all times.

9. Feel free to invite others who may benefit from participating by sending them to: www.key-to-life.com/mcmembership (do NOT invite them from within these Forums as these invitations will be cancelled by the Forums Supervisor!) All members will be approved by the MC Leadership Team before they may begin posting.

10. Feel free to post topic suggestions. All topic suggestions must be group-oriented (i.e. no inviting community members away to your separate group, trying to promote your clothing line/music cd/etc.) and pro-recovery (i.e. please see #1 and 2 above.) These topics will be deleted immediately by the Forums administrator and the poster will be permanently banned.

11. We do not allow members to post links to or promote their own outside personal blogs or website links from within the Community Forums. This is to safeguard the pro-recovery nature of the Forums, and to protect each member's safety, privacy, and confidentiality. Posts of this nature will be removed and the poster will be warned prior to a ban being issued.

12. We do not allow members to marketing their products or services to other members - no exceptions. Members who violate this rule will be banned immediately and permanently.

13. Anything you post will be viewable by the entire MentorCONNECT community – permanently. The only posts that will be removed are those that are considered inappropriate and no requests for deletions for any other reason will be considered.

14. Feel free to post directly in response to posts you find triggering or unsuitable for the community's intent and purpose. If you are not able to facilitate an honest dialogue with the poster, then you may share your concerns with the MC Leadership Team. We value honesty and accountability here.

15. This community is not meant to replace individual therapy or the need for more intensive treatment for eating and related disorders. However, other members may have suggestions for treatment professionals and facilities they have found success with. Feel free to ask, but remember that there are limits to what any supportive Forum can provide in terms of recovery support!

16. Registration is REQUIRED to join the Forum discussions and access all interactive MC services. This is for the safety, privacy and support of all. Once again, if you would like to invite a friend to participate, please send them to www.key-to-life.com/mcmembership to apply. We will NOT approve new member profiles that originate from invitations issued from within these Forums.

17. MentorCONNECT membership and participation in the MC Forums is open to both female and male members. Our goal is always to provide a safe space for any member who is struggling to give and receive support; however, inappropriate fraternization between members is strictly prohibited, and this rule will be strictly enforced. In addition, we offer same-gender-only mentor matching services and no requests for male-female mentoring matches will be approved.

18. Maintaining a safe emotional space for all members is our number one priority. If you violate any of these rules, you will be issued a series of warnings. Failure to comply with Forums Supervisor or Moderator instructions or to abide by issued warnings will result in a ban from the community. Bans are permanent and cannot be appealed so please interact wisely.

19. Please be aware that we take online harassment, stalking, or otherwise inappropriate use of the Community Forums VERY seriously and will take immediate action to protect the safety and privacy of our community (read HERE for details)

20. Please promptly report any and all questions, issues, and/or concerns to the Forums Supervisor, Jeanette. You may contact Jeanette at any time by visiting her Forums profile page: http://key-to-life.ning.com/profile/Jeanette
