MentorCONNECT Basics

For our purposes here, the terms "Mentor", "Mentee" and "Mentoring Relationship" are defined as follows:

Mentor: A "Mentor" is a trusted guide who has knowledge and experience in a certain area, and is willing and able to share it. A person is qualified to serve as a Mentor after achieving a level of recovery where there has been at least one year largely free from symptoms of disordered eating behaviors and attendant unhealthy coping patterns. Additionally, the potential Mentor should desire to grow in recovery by sharing their strength, experience and hope as a Mentor with someone who is newer to the recovery process, the Mentee

Mentee:
A "Mentee" is a person who is newer to the process of recovery and in need of guidance and instruction, and who is willing to receive it from someone, the Mentor, who has demonstrated success in recovery (as defined above.) A person is qualified to become a Mentee when they can state with 100% certainty that they are committed to achieving recovery success, no matter what it takes, or how long it takes

Mentoring Relationship:
A "Mentoring Relationship" is the voluntary, ongoing, interactive relationship between a Mentor and a Mentee, for the sole purpose of facilitating progress in recovery. It is not intended to replace the supervision and care of a qualified medical professional, and should never be construed as such.
